Happiness Challenge 2019

I am participating in the Happiness Challenge from the Happy Lawyer, which I know about because I am part of the online group “The Club”.

I have also been using a bullet journal for a few months now, and so today’s challenge really suited me.

We were asked to think of our three favourite moments in our law career in 2018, it turns put I am not so good at thinking of individual moments so instead I thought of three things:

  1. I started my consulting work when I started working for Novus Law Group

  2. My No Respect, No Relationship project got some attention and media coverage thanks to some WSU students

  3. A joint project of mine, Penrith Lady Lawyers, which was started by my friend Nat Ballard, hs formalised and has a Board

Why am I here?

Why am I doing this? Why haven’t I pursued the lucrative (cough cough) life of a full time family law solicitor?

I am experienced in the area and I know I add value but I can’t be part of the system anymore. I am exhausted from being part of a system that doesn’t take domestic violence seriously. That is a pretty pessimistic or negative view, but that is my honest reason and I am a pretty straight forward person.

You know what I do like though? In fact I love? Comradery with other professionals, training and assisting other solicitors to grow or run their business, this includes documents preparation, litigation preparation, marketing and client engagement, the administrative side of business and growing or training your work force.
